Awards "Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Pedesclaux has a beguiling perfume of violets, warm cassis, preserved plums and licorice with suggestions of rose hip tea, dark chocolate, kirsch and cinnamon toast. Medium to full-bodied, the palate bursts with vibrant black and red fruits, supported by ripe, finely grained tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Gorgeous wine—bravo!" - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"This is really floral and beautiful with lavender, lilac and blackcurrant aromas that follow through to a medium to full body with firm, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. It’s very racy and refined with structure. Linear. 72% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, 6% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot. Best after 2024." - James Suckling

"The 2019 Pédesclaux, which is matured in 60% new oak, has a lively, classically styled bouquet of blackberry, briary, cedar and pressed violet scents, a touch of orange pith emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit, very polished and seductive. The expressive floral component lends the Margaux-like personality I remarked upon from barrel. Quite persistent in the mouth, yet accessible, this will be difficult to resist (but try)." - Vinous

"This vintage marks 10 years since Lorenzetti arrived at Pédesclaux and began his transformation of the property. He should be given full credit for his success, and this is a great vintage to get on-board. Almost opposite to the 2nd wine in terms of its blend, this is a full 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the lowest amount of Merlot in the estate's recent history (the plantings in the vineyard have halved since he arrived). You see the results in a slight austerity on the approach, as this is a serious wine with savoury, clearly defined cassis and bilberry fruit flavours and a clear layering up of tannins that give it Pauillac bite. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 68% new oak, 3.8pH. Harvest September 23 to October 5. First year also of conversion to organics. Drinking Window 2028 - 2046" - Decanter

Château Pédesclaux is a winery located in Bordeaux, in the sub-appellation of Pauillac. The château is one of the 18 classified fifth growths, or Cinquièmes Crus, from the Bordeaux Classification of 1855.

Château Pédesclaux was established in 1810 by wine broker Pierre Urbain Pédesclaux and has passed hands numerous times since. The current owner, Jacky Lorenzetti, also owns Château Lilian Ladouys in Saint-Estèphe and half of Château d'Issan, a well-known third growth, in Margaux.

The Château Pédesclaux estate is 48 hectares (120 acres) and is planted primarily to Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with some Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The vines, planted in gravel over clay subsoil, are on average 35 years old, but some date back to the 1950s.

The château ages its wine for 12 months in 60 percent new French oak barrels and produces around 9,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon-predominant wine each year. The second wine of Château Pédesclaux is a Merlot named Fleur de Pédesclaux, previously known as Lucien de Pédesclaux.
